Learn the basics of game-based comedy writing to turn your funny ideas and anecdotes into sketches! If you've ever had something funny happen to you and thought "this would make a good sketch," this is the workshop for you. You will learn basic sketch-writing vocabulary, the components that make up a sketch, how to format sketches and, most importantly, how to turn your funny ideas into tangible written pieces. No preparation or previous writing/comedy experience necessary! INSTRUCTOR: Beth Appel. Class length: 3 hours.

About Beth Appel: Beth Appel is a performer, writer, and director living in Los Angeles. Beth spent several years as Artistic Director of UCBTLA and is a proud member of the improv team CARDINAL REDBIRD. Beth wrote and starred in the long-running solo show, BETH APPEL: SEXIEST WOMAN ALIVE, and she has written, directed and performed in countless other sketch and improv shows at UCB on both coasts (East and West). You may have seen her on IFC, MTV, TruTV, in various movies and web series, or, if you live in Germany or Switzerland, in a Volkswagen commercial with fellow heartthrob Robbie Williams.
