Just Roll With It! An Improv for D&D Class

Class Description:

taught by Andrew Sproge and Michael Fletcher

Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a Dungeon Master looking to sharpen your skills, this 4-week course will help you bring more confidence, creativity, and fun to your Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. No improv experience required*

Over four weeks, we’ll explore how improv techniques can enhance every aspect of the D&D experience. Through a combination of improv exercises, roleplay, and D&D-inspired activities, you’ll learn how to create memorable characters, make bold choices, react in the moment, build stronger party chemistry, and tell better stories together.

We’ll also cover practical tools for Dungeon Masters, including NPC creation, world-building, descriptions, and keeping the game moving when players inevitably do the unexpected.

Class culminates in an optional student showcase where students bring their characters to life in a live Dungeons & Dragons-inspired improv adventure.

Topics will include:

• Character creation and roleplay
• Thinking on your feet while staying true to your character
• Character voices and points of view
• Party chemistry and collaborative storytelling
• Avoiding common D&D roleplaying pitfalls
• Fast NPC creation
• DM descriptions and world-building
• Combat narration and cinematic storytelling

This class is designed for players and Dungeon Masters who have some experience with Dungeons & Dragons. No improv experience is required. Whether you’re looking to become a better roleplayer, a stronger Dungeon Master, or simply want to get more out of your next campaign, this class is for you.
