Class Description:
Harold is king but that doesn't mean there isn't room for exploration! A group of people working together to build something from nothing is the foundation of all great improv groups, no matter the format. In this 6-week workshop participants will be led through a series of exercises highlighting individual skills to build group mind, culminating in an original longform piece. The exercises used in this workshop can also be helpful in creating a new format for your indie group or to push your Harold work further by experimenting beyond the three beat structure. The new form developed in class will debut for the first time in a show on the stage!

About Carla Cackowski: Carla Cackowski is an improviser and teacher living in Los Angeles. She regularly tours across the country with her two person improv show, “Orange Tuxedo”. Carla toured on boats performing sketch and improv with Second City and performed on mainstage Harold Teams at both iO West and UCB Los Angeles. She directed the International Ensemble at the Vancouver Improv Festival and has traveled all over the world teaching and performing in comedy festivals. She was an improv teacher at The Second City in Hollywood for twelve years, is the former Artistic Director at Mi’s Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica and the former Co-Artistic Director at Curious Comedy Theater in Portland, Oregon. Some recent improv Das Improv Festival (Berlin), Copenhagen International Improv Festival, Detroit Improv Festival, Sarasota Improv Festival, Last Best Comedy Fest (Bozeman, Montana), and The Last Word Comedy Festival (Williamsburg, Virginia).
